Concern has been expressed that some person or persons unknown has been painting cup and ring stones recently. The first time we became aware of this was when, some years ago, the cup and ring stone in the wood above Willy Hall’s Spout was painted with red paint. Recently the same has been done to the Badger Stone, in black paint, and there is a report that another stone has been painted. In each case the intention seems to have been to accentuate the carvings.

Shooting on the Moor: 21/5/2012
The Friends of Ilkley Moor have strengthened their opposition to the lease for shooting on Ilkley Moor by writing to the Leaders of all the Groups on Bradford Council (Labour, Conservative, Liberal Democrat, Green, Respect, Independents and Queensbury Ward Independents) asking for the lease to be terminated in May 2013. This is the earliest date at which the Council can terminate the lease without any cost to itself. FoIM has offered to meet with any or all of the Leaders to discuss the matter.
