Annual General Meeting 2010

Thursday 25 March 2010

We are holding our Annual General Meeting at 7:30pm on Friday, 16 April 2010 at the Clarke Foley Centre, Ilkley. There will be a talk by Gavin Edwards, Ilkley Museum Curator, Archaeology, on Human Interaction with the Landscape. There will also be cheese and wine.

We will send out the AGM Agenda, minutes of the last year's AGM and election nomination forms for committee members on 1 April, 2 weeks before the AGM. This year there will be vacancies for Chair and Treasurer - volunteers would be most welcome! The remaining posts are also up for re-election.

Don't forget that if you are not already paying your subs by bank standing order then you can pay them at the AGM if you wish.

We hope to see you there. Volunteers to help with serving wine and cheese and to help us with the washing up afterwards would be welcome!

Memberships

Monday 01 March 2010

We have 218 members as at May 2010 - though 64 members have yet to rejoin for the year 2010/11. More than nine out of ten live locally. Of the 218 members, 74% say that they use the Moor for walking/running and 64% for peace & tranquillity. Observation of plants/botany/flora & fauna comes next (27%), with history (26 per cent), bird watching (26%), archaeology (22%) and dog walking (17%). A smaller proportion use it for activities like orienteering, wildlife photography and climbing.

39% of members have volunteered their services in one form or another, ranging from the general like litter picking, to the specialised - like botany, history and veterinarian skills, dry stone walling, accountancy, photography and artwork, journalism and film and charity management etc.

Under half of current members have joined as individuals and the remainder are mainly family memberships. We have 2 corporate memberships so far, from small businesses. Just over half of members are long term in that they have made bank Standing Orders for annual membership in future years.

If you would like to support our activities please complete the website membership application form. We need everyone's help!
